Filling Santa's Toy Sack - Still a WIP

Oh, I can't stand it anymore!!  I wanted to completely fill Santa's toy sacks and take some photos in good lighting, but I couldn't stand another second!!  I had to see what he looked like in a photo, and I was dying to give you a sneak peek...so, here's a little peek at Santa today.  He's getting his toy sacks filled as I type...well, I can't do both at once... but you know what I mean!  He keeps demanding more toys.  Ughhh!

Back to the workshop!  Santa is being a tad pushy...

I stand on the Rock, and cling to His promises.  Do you?

A Word of Wisdom for Your Day

Psalm 37:3

3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.
7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret—it only causes harm.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off;
But those who wait on the Lord,
They shall inherit the earth.

Hallelujah! Santa's Got a Beard! WIP from Sherry's Cabin

Seven hours...fingers glued together and covered in mohair...piles of discarded curls everywhere...and a dog that's covered in fuzz...that's what it takes to give Santa a beard...or, at least, that's what it takes for me!  I'm singing Hallelujah, thank you Lord for helping me get this done.
So, here's Santa with his new do -

I tried to get a closeup of his eyes - I added tiny veins in the eyes that look great, but I don't think you can see them with my photography skills -

Now, Santa...what do you want to wear????

“For you, O LORD, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy.”  Psalm 92:4

Santa Put on His Makeup

Well, the dear ol' guy is another step closer...he's put on his makeup!  It's not a stark difference from the original sculpt, but his face now has a little more depth.

Now...beard or bed????

WIP- Santa Gets a Body!!

We are home again with Gayland's new knee, he's getting around better, and I have an excuse to work in the craftroom - I've got to stay close at hand in case he needs something, and since my craftroom is just off the front room, I simply must stay in here...hehehe.  So, Santa has gotten his body, and he's delighted!  He was very tired of being a head on the cabinet.

For those of you who have asked how I construct the body to hold a heavy clay head, you can see a glimpse of the construction.  He's made from 3/4" PVC - don't try to use 1/2", as it has too much flex EVERY time - it took me awhile to convince myself of that...  anyway, he's then covered in foam which has been seamed together with contact cement.  Let me say, I cannot complain about the stickability of Tandy contact cement, as I had foam stuck to every finger while trying to pinch the seams together!  A little duct tape will work as bandaids to hold the seams together while they dry.
I have screwed an all-thread base (not sure of the correct name) onto the wooden base and tightened a 3/8" all-thread rod into it.  The PVC leg is currently slipped over the metal all-thread.  Also, here, don't try to use small all-thread, either, as it flexs, too.  When Santa is dressed, I have a couple of choices.  I can cut a hole in the bottom of one boot and run the metal rod through it, or if I don't want to ruin the boot bottom, I can disguise the metal rod behind the leg and under the coat.  Since the boots aren't antiques, I vote for the hole!

I want to say thank you to all of our friends and family for the prayers, the visits, and the calls while we were in the hospital.  It made all the difference.  You are appreciated!

Check back tomorrow to see if Santa gets some clothes!

Santa is still a Work-in-Progress

Well, I survived the end of school and cowboy church camp with the teens, and it's time to get to work in the craftroom!  Sadly, Santa will not meet his deadline of June 10th as I had hoped, but some things just don't play out to my plans - no problem because God's got it under control.  I am working on Santa's hands at the moment- just added some agespots and did the nails...I always mess up my nails...Santa needs a manicure.  I haven't sealed them, yet - still gawking at them trying to decide if they are truly finished.

Now, if Santa just had a body.  Off to saw some arms and legs...mwahhhaaaahaaaaa!

I hope God has spouted up blossoms of blessings in your path today.
