Day 24 - God's Artwork

I have hurried here and there with the end of school, and I thought I had snapped a photo of all the colorful wildflowers around here.  I even commented to Gayland as such.  Not true, though!  While we were walking Red before church tonight, I found a new one God planted just for this hunt!  Pardon my fingers in the photo...winds were blowing so hard, I could not get the poor thing to be still long enough for a picture.  I had to grab ahold and snap!  I guess I should have edited them out, but I'm on the move!
Have a blessed night!

More Doodles from the Desktop!

What if Ima Jean were to morph?  You know, like all of the cartoons nowadays with animals that have morphed into human-like form?  Well, I have a feeling I know what she'd be doing...

Somebody save me from the Doodles.  They've got ahold of me!!!!

Day 23 - Amazing Camo!

I love today's photo!  My little friend has been hanging out in my laundry room, and I've carried him outside twice now.  He seems to like hanging around with me!

Is it not amazing the thought that went into making the praying mantis?
I am in awe.

Day 22 God's Artwork

Today's photo:

I'm sure you're wondering why I've chosen a man-made object for my "God's Artwork" collection.  Well, I was thinking about how the rain, the storms, the winds had given this such a beautiful patina.  God's handywork!

Doodling Monsters Always Makes Me Smile

If you check my teacher workshop notes, my journals, my scratch paper, they usually all have something in doodles!  I'm not sure why I like doodling monsters, but I do.  They make me smile!  Of course, my monsters are not the kind you'd find in dark alleys or horror movies.  No, those are not MY monsters! Mine have a more sophisticated air about them.  They have stories to tell...take Humphrey, for instance...he's been coming to life on my desk this between cleaning, of course!

So tell me, what do you think Humphrey's story is??

Day 21...Whoops, What Happened to 20???

It's late on day 21, and I'm popping in to share a little pop of color - still playing by the iphone rules!

So sorry about Day 20.  It came and went while I tried to get things finished for the end of school. :(

Day 19 - God's Artwork and Humor!

Although it's only a week away from the end of the school year, I've spent the last four hours filling out a grant proposal for next year.  In the midst of trying to crunch numbers and answer crazy questions, I walked down to the barn and happened to capture my picture of the day...and, to me, it's beautiful!  Beautifully funny, that is!  I know God has a sense of humor.  As I walked by these lips, they reminded me how beautiful God's sense of humor is!

He gives us joy.  He gives us laughter.
Take advantage of it!

Day 18 - God's Artwork

After a long day, I am reminded...
He's got the whole world in His hands.

A Little Art Therapy for Me

With school coming to a close and the many hats I where, I haven't settled in to sculpt anything lately.  I can't seem to get in the mood.  I have, however, been doodling away!  I've always drawn and painted with acrylics, but I've been finding myself interested in mixed media artists and doodle artists lately - yes, I've found doodle artists!  I read an article about artist markers, watched some video clips, and have been really wanting to try them.  Well, it just happens I've been saving some birthday money, and Michael's ran 40% of all artist markers today!  Those little babies are expensive!!!!
Off I went to carefully select a few colors and to get a very small set.

Maybe I should have bought clay... It seems I can color with very expensive markers just like I can color with the Crayola markers I use in my classroom....:(
Maybe with a little practice???? And many more shades of markers????

First I doodled...

No, I don't know where she came from any more than the Pond Diva I drew yesterday.  I have this secret plan to one day retire and draw pictures for greeting cards over which companies will be fighting..hehehe...I can dream, can I?  Ok, so maybe that's not in the foreseeable future.

Then while I was scanning her to share, I plopped in some background color and hit the tubes...

Then why not tone down the background and add a little frame...

So, does this count as being productive on this school holiday???  I haven't had any calls from Hallmark just yet....

Day 16 of God's Artwork Challenge - Are We in Lilliput?

It's all about the perspective...
The best perspective happens when you're viewing the world through God's Word.
How's your view?

Day 14 - God's Artwork Challenge

Of course, most things in West Texas stick, sting, or bite,
and the flowers are no different!
They sure do like pretty in the evening sun, though.

Day 13 - One of God's Most Amazing Designs

Well, I knew it would happen...I took my photo yesterday, worked outside until dark, and...forgot to post the picture of the day :(.  I realized it this morning on our way into town, so I spent most of the morning trying to upload from my phone to the blog while Gayland drove us from chore to chore...only to get back to our gate just about the time I got the photos loadable.  So, here's yesterday's photo and post:

As my baby boy and I worked, I stared once again in amazed joy at this awesome creation.  Every inch of design an engineering miracle and a beauty to behold!

Day 12 of the Challenge

A little rain makes all the difference!
We are truly enjoying the color green around here!  It's not a sight we see too often, but we certainly take the time to appreciate it when we do!
May all of your pastures be green this week!

Day 11 - God's Artwork Comes with Thanks

We have been so blessed to get some rain out here in the dust, and the storm clouds are rolling in again this evening!
Thank you, Lord!
My camera just doesn't do these clouds justice!
What are you thankful for today?

God's Artwork Day 9 - Amazing Details in the Design

I walked by the cactus at the barn and thought, "Hey, that nest in the cactus might make a neat photo."  It's in the midst of a bunch of cactus and just above my head.  The phone went airborne, and I started tapping my finger.  What a surprise to see the results!  Baby On Board!

I was severely chastised by an angry mama who came very quickly!

Challenge Day 8

It's a beautiful Sunday, and I was able to get my photo early this morning!  For those that attend Cowboy Church, you know dogs, horses, and folks are welcome.  For those that don't, we'd love to have you join us!  Red Dog was making his usual rounds before church with his dad and me following along, and we came across another splash of color that seemed to wave at me and plead for its picture to be taken.

I was asked what camera I am using.  It's part of my rules for the challenge that I can only use my iPhone, so iPhone it is!  It's certainly not too late for you to play along with me.  Get out this week and look for God's artwork.  Snap it and post it anywhere to share!  Have a blessed week, and get out there and bless someone else!

Day 7 - God's Artwork

Late in posting tonight, as we spent the day at the Western Heritage in Abilene.  It was an enjoyable day; however, I didn't get an opportunity to look for the perfect photo to share with you...or so I thought.  It isn't an amazing photo, but it IS an amazing piece of art on God's part.

The Clydesdales were getting a bath this afternoon!  They are just indescribably beautiful.

God's Artwork and Incredible Designs Day 6

Have you ever thought about bugs?  Those of you that have hung around me any time at all know I like bugs.  They are amazing little, living design miracles!  Do you realize the mulititudes of specialized features these little pests have?  The perfectly hinged joints, the color schemes, the defense mechanisms, the intricate life cycles that all intertwine with one another...pretty cool, huh?

For those that cannot grasp the idea, of God's intelligent design, spend the day with bugs.  What an ingenious Architect!

Challenge Day 5 - God's Artwork

Now I'm making up the rules as I go here, so I don't guess I can actually break them.  If there were rules, I would think that I shouldn't return to the same focal point for a second picture....but this rule doesn't happen to exist, so I ventured back to snap a second photo of Day 2's artwork.  God's blessed us with rain, and I couldn't pass up the flash of color!

Day 5 - God's Artwork
For those of us who live in West Texas who are so accustomed to the browns, the grays, the dust, and the drought, we might just ought to make a closer inspection.  The colors are in small splashes, but the color palette trumps any box of colors Crayola ever sold!

God's Artwork Day 4

Church night - late in posting...but I did manage to grab a photo to share.  It's not a grand composition, or even a quality snapshot, for that matter, but it just makes me smile.  It almost wants to be a cartoon character, I think - one that's happy dancin' all the time!

May your tomorrow be filled with happy dancin'!

Day Three of God's Art Work Challenge

...and might I say it has been a challenge today.  Sunlight and shadows messed with me, wind blew tiny, little flowers into blurs, and the gnats were out in battle squadrons!

I settled on this.

God's Artwork - Day 2

God's Artwork- Day 2

My goodness, what have I done?  This challenge may be an obsessive thing....or, is that me???  I raced home today, jumped out of the truck, and ran toward the house to grab a sweatshirt (thank you, Lord, for the rain today) to head off in search of today's photo.  With dog in tow, we tromped through the fresh mud to find today's winner.  What is the problem, you ask?  You see, it's got to be just right...then I must snap it several times, as I am NOT a photographer...then I must play with the oh, so cool editing's off to another possibility...back inside...back outside....was this supposed to be quick?
What do you think?  Anyone playing along with me?  Come on, I know you have a phone, and we all need to take time to appreciate the awesome and diverse beauty God sprinkles us with each day.

....and, if I were to post a second photo might have been this one....

However, since I'm not...just pretend you never saw it! hehehe

Thirty Day Challenge - West Texas Style!

For those of you who have followed my blog for any length of time, you know it's sporatic, it's dabbled with art, and drizzled with God's Word, His blessings, and the amazement He continually provides for me.  I've been thinking about what its purpose truly is, and I have decided it's just that...dabbles of art and praises for the King of Kings.  As I flipped through the latest issue of Artful Blogging, I wondered if it should say more....and I came to this conclusion....No.  So, then I thought about renovating...spring cleaning, let's say...Yes!  I think it's time to do some cleaning and decluttering, give myself a little challenge, and challenge you to join me!

It happens that I have not been able to create much art at the moment, and that's ok.  There are other things that need tending, but I can still sing praises.  Well, then, why not share God's art?  I flip through and see blogs with colorful foods, nicely stacked tea cup photos, staged cactus, no snakes like the one I chased with my iphone camera this afternoon with mustang in tow.  I don't have to stack tea cups to snap photos that I think are beautiful.  God's already done the work.  All I have to do is pull out the ol' iPhone and click.

So, as I do some spring cleaning around here while I await the end of school that brings time for dabbling in art, I'm taking on a Thirty Day Challenge-West Texas Style for myself.  Just me and the phone...and whatever poor animal I'm dragging along on the search of God's artwork.  One a day - thirty days.  West Texas through my lens.  I hope you'll join me for the trip.  What should you do, you ask?  Drop in and share your thoughts, use the photos for whatever you'd like, pick your favorite, join me in the challenge, and, most of all, stay amazed at His Glory!

Day 1 -

Ok, did I say one photo a day?  Alright, I'm already breaking the rules and it's Day 1, but we've been blessed with rain this week, and everything is green around here - really green, and I couldn't pass up the contrast of this one - both colors caused by rain...

"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
Psalm 91:1-2
